System Design and Modeling:

At PEKE, we collaborate with clients to define system requirements, architecture, and form factor considerations. Using advanced Finite Element Analysis using ANSYS and multi-physics modeling in MATLAB, we simulate designs, evaluate trade-offs, predict performance, and validate behavior well before hardware is built. This model-based approach drives the development of reliable, efficient systems while reducing risk, optimizing cost and schedule, and supporting sound decisions from concept through deployment and lifecycle sustainment.

Machine Design:  

PEKE’s mechanical engineering team leverages Computer Aided Design (CAD) using OnShape, finite element analysis (FEA), digital rendering, and prototyping to evolve concepts into detailed designs with included bill of materials (BOM). Through this process, we validate performance and durability, ensure seamless integration with controls and manufacturing, and ultimately deliver reliable, serviceable products ready for production.

Design for Additive Manufacturing (DFAM) and Rapid Prototypes:

PEKE’s DFAM and rapid prototyping capabilities apply geometry, material, and tolerance considerations to additive processes to quickly validate form, fit, and function. By optimizing orientation, wall thickness, support strategy, and lattice/infill, we minimize print time, post-processing, and cost, enabling faster iteration and reduced development risk. Our approach allows for quick form, fit, and function testing before production-ready parts are built.

CAD Modeling:

PEKE uses parametric CAD to drive rapid iteration and production readiness, supporting precise assemblies, GD&T, motion studies, and assembly drawings with clear BOM. Our models are built with DFM/DFA principles, tolerance stack-ups, and service access in mind, while linking seamlessly to simulation and CAM for smooth transfer from prototype to tooling, vendors, and documentation. We also help with the work instructions for assembly, which is commonly overlooked or tediously added to the engineering drawings, which takes a lot of time, but also requires a higher trained technician to use those. With technical level work instructions, it allows for less training, while driving to more consistent assembly results.

Finite Element Analysis:

PEKE applies FEA to static and transient mechanical and thermal systems, part and assembly vibrational analysis, harmonic analysis, fatigue analysis, and advanced loading cases including contact problems across metals, composites, and plastics. Validated through test correlation and mesh convergence, our analyses inform stiffness, mass, and damping trades; predict stress concentrations; and optimize fasteners, mounts, and housings for durability. We have developed our own fatigue models in-house that are validated through real world testing, making us uniquely situated designing for vibrational and high fatigue applications.

Heat Transfer Models: 

PEKE utilizes thermal models to manage drift and ensure long-term reliability, addressing transient conduction, convection, and radiation from drivers and coils to ambient. Our process includes sizing heat sinks and cold plates, tuning airflow, and validating with instrumentation and initial estimates using CFD. These insights inform derating and packaging decisions that stabilize frequency, protect components, and extend service life.

AI and Machine Learning:  

At PEKE, we apply AI/ML to time-series data for anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and closed-loop optimization. System models accelerate design trade studies, while edge and cloud pipelines enable parameter estimation and fleet-wide insights thereby reducing test cycles and improving yield.
